Welcome to the Bizarre x Meantime pop-up!

West Philly Bizarre is opening an indoor, pop-up retail space at 40th and Market thanks to our partnership with Meantime and UCD!

This Bizarre will resemble more of a retail space than a flea market. We will curate vendors based on mix of offerings, presentation, and relevancy to the target audience. The space can handle ~10 vendors so it will be selective, with a strong focus on makers, creators, and original goods.

Bizarre x Meantime is a physical retail location on the corner of 40th and Ludlow, at 22 S 40th St. It is near coffee shops, restaurants, and a movie theater. During the school year, Penn students, faculty, and staff walk from SEPTA’s 40th St station to Penn’s campus.

This space is on a corner with floor-to-ceiling windows. It gets a lot of light!

We use several terms used to describe people, places, and things in this Handbook.

• “We”, “WPB”, “Us” = West Philly Bizarre
• “You”, “pass holders”, “members”, “vendors” = Vendors and Vendor Members
• “Pop-up”, “event”, “The Bizarre”, “the market” = West Philly Bizarre at 22 S 40th St.
• “Members”, “WPB Members” = People who have a West Philly Bizarre membership

• Tuesday - Saturday from 12 to 8 (setup starts at 11, packout by 9)
• Sunday from 12 to 6 (setup starts at 11, packout by 7)

Vendor Types

If you are an artist with items to install on the wall, please contact us. We have a commission-based pricing system for you.

Payments and Attendance

• $10 application fee and a $30 approval / membership fee. (New members only. If you are already a member, you will not have to pay this fee.)
• Tables/Racks/Etc: The fee will remain $20 per day, regardless if you are there or not to staff your table. There will NOT be a commission fee. If you are not going to be there, please make sure you have QR codes for payments and all items are priced. If this is not affordable to you, please reach out.
• Installations: If you have art installed on the wall, there will be a 10% commission fee for all sales. This will be honor system-- let us know how much you sell and we will invoice you via Marketspread. Please contact [email protected] before filling out an application.
• No-call no-shows do not get refunds and will be excluded from future Bizarres!
• Invoices must be paid 3+ days in advance or you will be removed from the Bizarre!

Amenities

There is an indoor bathroom, lights, and wheelchair / ramp access.

You will be given table, racks, etc. to use. Please do not bring your own tables and chairs.

If you schedule days back-to-back, you can keep your stuff in the space overnight.

Parking

There is free two-hour parking and paid on-street parking.

There is a parking garage a few blocks South, next to the grocery store on Walnut Street.

You may be able to double park to load in and out — it is on trolley tracks so you’ll have to move your car immediately if one is coming.

Receive Booth Assignments

Vendors who are allowed to vend at the Bizarre will be marked ”ASSIGNED” to a booth in Marketspread prior to the Bizarre.

Any other status (Approved, Waitlisted, etc) means you are NOT vending that day.

Due to the number of vendors, you may not be assigned for all of the dates you wish to attend. If you are not assigned a spot, you can still try for a walk-up spot.

If you are not “Assigned” this is likely for one of a few reasons:

1. We’re on a waitlist - there are more vendors than booths.
2. We have not assigned spots for that date.
3. You have overdue invoices that must be paid before vending again.
4. Or, another reason(s)

Walk Up Spots

There will be no walk up spots for this event. All members must be marked as “Assigned” in Marketspread to attend.
